Hello friends!!!

I'm new here!

I'm new here and I want to ask how to care for these baby pulchras. I bought them yesterday here at our local orchidarium. I was just looking around until I saw a phalaenopsis pulchra that was absolutely beautiful.and then I saw a spike with 2 babies with 4-5 inch roots hanging. I asked the seller if I can buy the babies and she offered me P150 ($3.45). I bought it at P120 ($2.76) and I got the 2 babies!!!

When I got home, I potted them in clay pots with big barks wich is the only bark medium available for orchids here. I cut the flower spike and divided them and potted them separately. The roots are placed onto the pot like they clung on it since birth! And it looks beautiful. I think I broke 1-2 roots but it's fine. The babies have 5-8 roots but sadly there are only 3-4 roots that are healthy. I didn't cut or remove the other roots though because they ere still thick but their points are chopped off(I don't know if that's healthy I will just call it unhealthy ok? :Smilie_happy_peac) and now I'm looking at them hoping for their fast and vegetative growth. Their leaf span is both 4-5 inches wide with their light green shiny leaves. I hope you guys can teach me how to care for them.

They sound ok to me.

It'd be cool if you could post pics after making a total of 5 posts.

In the meantime, the first 18 pages of the sticky, http://www.orchidboard.com/community...ends-here.html, should help.

They shouldn't be terribly difficult to grow. I'm growing an adult blooming sized plant in spike.

I got a Keiki from a friend. It had two small leaves & 3 roots. Six months after potting it spiked & bloomed. It's now growing it's own Keiki as well as another spike. I grow it like all my other Phals, warm and on the bright side. Gets watered with MSU weekly.

Sorry, MSU is a type of fertilizer we can get here in the States. It stands for Michigan State University, where it was formulated.
