I just wanted to pass along a positive experience I had yesterday at the local Home Depot. While looking through the garden center to see if they had any orchids particularly in need of a home I noticed that all the Id tags had been removed.since I purchased my second ever orchids there about a month ago WITH a cryptic, but present, tag I wondered what was up. After checking with an employee I learned their policy was not to remove tags. Knowing how important tags are to collectors and how important the bottom line is to such businesses I mentioned that this lack lowered the value of the plants. I was referred to customer serviceand ended up talking to the store manager. He said he should talk to the distributed and make sure tags come with the plants in the future. Who ever actually removed them, I suspect tags will be much more likely in the future there.
As a side note, the cryptic tag on my own orchids from there was translated over email by someone from the nursery who shipped it so my baby is no longer a NOID!

It had lost its flowers when purchased, but now I know what to expect next winter. It's a Phal. sogo yenlin "Coffee". Hopefully I will again find tagged orchids at this store in the future and be able to track down the identities of more likely plants. Where I live my options are severely limited for local purchases.
