Many Japanese paph growers use stones mixed with other organic material, not necessarily limestone, and the main idea is not to repot thus leaving the plant alone for as long as possible.
Seem to work great for brachy types among others.

Delenatii is probably the easiest one to obtain.
They seem to be everywhere and relatively inexpensive, plus, about the easiest to grow!
