Default MOOC about Plants in October

I am addicted to MOOCs! Those are free Massive Online Open Courses. Through a MOOC site called Coursera, I can find quite a few of interest to me. These are huge classes, sometimes with 60,000 students, they are totally free unless you want a specific program or certificate.

Any way, I am getting more an d more interested in plants due to my love of orchids, and have found a class coming up in October called "What A Plant Knows" from Tel Aviv University (in English).

The details are that it is about how plants know their environment, know which direction is up, "how plants look at themselves and experience the world." It will highlight the latest in genetics and research.

It will be taught by Daniel Chamovitz Director of the Manna Center for Plant Biosciences, in the Department of Biology and Ecology of plants and an assistant, Aviva Katz.

It is 7 weeks long and starts in October but I do not know which date as of yet. They usually e-mail you when everything is ready.

Sounds interesting! Hope to see a few Orchid Board members join in!

I downloaded the Coursera App from Google Play store and get the classes on my Wi-Fi tablet without the kind of painful uploading wait like Youtube takes.

(I am not in the employ of Coursera or anyone, I just thought the orchid board folks and anyone interested in plants would be interested!)

i have mostly done a course in coursera, (didn't have time to finish it) - but its pretty cool, all kinds of courses available for free. if you want a certificate you can pay for one now. didn't know they had plants - might have to go take a look.
