Keiki is a Hawaiian word for baby. Basically it's a new plant that forms on the mother plant that can be removed and potted independently when it has enough leaves and a large enough root system.

I'm glad you figured out what this needed before it got any worse. The rotted roots look just like the roots did on my rescue Phal when I first got it. You have a bunch of healthy ones too, though, which should stand it in good stead.

Somewhere on the forums I read that putting out spikes or keikis can be a sign the plant is suffering and trying to reproduce itself. That could be what's happening here since it's been in soil.

At this point I'm really concerned about the health of all my orchids. We have had all the windows & door open most the time since our AC went out a couple weeks ago. We just installed sprinklers in our back yard and laid lawn seeds. The seeds need watering 2x daily until established. No big deal, right? Well our soil here is clay & doesn't drain well. Long story short, today we noticed what looks like it can be mold covering most of our yard. 😣 I fear that my orchids may be affected. They are all showing signs of trouble.

What signs of trouble?
What is your set up like? where in the house do you have your plants and what is the humidity, light and air circulation in your house with out AC?
Any pics?

Oh.. and where in the US are you? I'm in CA, SF bay area and that gives you an idea of the climate in my area.

I'm in the Central Valley. Much warmer than the bay! I'll reply more detail when the kids go to bed.
