Waiting for my phal bloom pods to come into flower is like waiting for my tomatoes to go from green to ripe. Seems to take half the summer!

I'm right there with ya! I have a phal with multi spikes and about 15 buds that I have never seen flower. The suspense is killing me!

I'm with you! I have a couple in bud too. It seems like it takes forever for those buds to mature!! I'm afraid to move it, for fear that they will blast... But I can't not go check it out every morning to see if something changed. It's so exciting!!!

I grow most of my phals and other orchids from seedlings (sometimes very small seedlings). Yep, I wait a long time for those blooms.

Leafmite, how long does it take in general to get them to the point of blooming (I realize each has its own growth rate)? At my age I am not interested in taking the time to do that, but I'm definitely interested in the process (the engineer and scientist in me).

I can answer that, two or three years usually, though some phals will bloom after only one year.
