Dendrobiums fall and go boom Part 2
Hello all,
This is continued from a thread a week ago, I believe in repotting section. Brief overview, dog playing in backyard, Dendros' Air bathing, then suddenly boom on ground they go. Don't know for how long, but upon inspection, the rootball was totally out of net pot on one Dendrobium, the other seemed to be just fine. I then took them into the house did emergency repot on the one and closely inspected the other. In this inspection I noticed that one the smaller canes broke but not completely it was just kind of leaning to the side so I stuck it up right, and hope for the best. The next morning I looked at this Dendrobium again, and saw that the one little cane was not too happy,droopy. Well I snipped him clean off, put on rooting compound, and wrapped him in sphagnum. I then continued to monitor him closely. I inspected the parent a little more closely and noticed two other things on this Dendrobium. He has what looks to be like seedpods and he actually seems to have other plants growing off a couple of the canes. So my questions are;
1) will the cutting from the broken cane takeoff, and what care is needed for him?
2) are these actually seedpods and how do I prepped them for propagation?
3) now seeing that I cut the cane and it seems to be doing okay, can I cut these off and make a new plant out of them, for total of two more?
Thank you for your input ahead of time. Hopefully I'll be the proud parent of three more Dendrobiums
