Default Dendrobiums one cane each pot

I want to ask what happens with dendrobium that were cut and was potted one cane a pot, will it bloom again will they die? I saw a hobbyist who have a dendro in pots with one cane only some do not even have leaves and has new growth. She told me its her way of propagating. I was surprise since its my first time to see that. She also removes new growth i think 3 inches tall and repot. Will they grow and bloom fast? Is that really a way of propagating? Thanks
