Questions on my beautiful Ludisia
I lve this plant. Got it last June and it bloomed in December. Now it is getting lots of new growth. I would like to repot, if not too soon, to get it a little more stable since it was originally potted to one side. Is it time to repot? Should i continue to position it as such? Should the pot be shallow and wider? I dont think i have ever seen plastic made like that. What soil media, african violet soil? Please give me some ideas. I want to make it happy! It makes me happy.

You may repot those pretty much at any time. I prefer sphagnum moss to soil or "soilless mixes" for them.
If you go with a a shallower, wider pot, you'll find them spreading their rhizomes sub-surface, giving you more and more growths.

Thanks, Ray. Will it shock it too much to change from the media it is in to spaghnum? Should i only use platic pot? There are bonsai pots but they are glazed and i thought glazed pots were a no-no.

Repotting can be done any time. Potting medium depends on culture condition. I almost killed mine in sphagnum now does great in loose soil and perlite. If yours is healthy I would stay with the same medium and culture. Plant breaks easily but pieces can be stuck in dirt and it will grow including leafless stems! Tried that and in 2 months it produced new leaves.

I don't think the precise brand or composition matters too much. I see some white stuff in the pot, that looks like perlite. For the brown stuff, difficult to tell what it is for sure; could be shredded cocohusk = coir. Normal potting mix should do as well, then add perlite until it looks and feels about the same.
Looking at the picture, the plant does not look that large for the pot. You could also just leave it how it is, and let it double in size. I repotted mine only after it broke into pieces under its own weight when I lifted it up. That took about 3 years growing it in a warm terrarium with high humidity.

Ludisia is usually an easy plant to grow, and many people grow it without even realizing it is an orchid. Anytime they are in active growth, with is almost anytime, is a good time to repot. My preferred medium is a Phal or Paph bark mix with a handful of African violet or similar houseplant potting mix thrown in, but it will grow in just about anything that retains even moisture without staying soggy. That will depend on how you water it, of course. The container doesn't matter really. Any plastic or clay or glazed pot with drainage. It will tend to be somewhat vine-like in a narrow pot, and grow fuller with more stems in a wide pot.
