Ok well just to update, I repotted it today in proper mix made for cymbidiums. I am so glad I did, half the roots we're rotted away. And this with it being left alone, I hadn't watered it in a few weeks. I think the problem was the roots were too bound up when I repotted the first time cause I was afraid to cut them back so I could t get the bark inside the root ball well enough. The only thing that did get in there was this small pellet like stuff which apparently cringed to the roots and never dried out so even though there was no bark in the centre of the roots, they constantly wet from this pellet stuff.
Anyhow so half the root ball had to be cut away which made the size pot to be repotted in considerably smaller. Because of the root damage I decided to go with a pot similar in size to the one it was originally in, a 6" pot. The mix I have came from repotme.com and is made with husks and pest moss and other things. Much much finer. I was able to get it in and around the roots easily now and the plastic pot is sitting inside a larger ceramic pot to keep it from being blown over. I haven't watered it, will give it a week or so before I do that.
Otherwise the plant seems fine, it is putting out new shoots even with the root rot! So I am hoping for the best, will just wait and watch now.

I know this is sort of an old post but it has some very great info and I was just wondering if there is an update on your Cym?

I am going to have to do a re-pot very soon and am looking up all post I can. Not sure I can get the e-mail from the Cym sight.
