Yellow leaf from over potting? Female
Question Yellow leaf from over potting?

I repotted this orchid and realized after a couple of weeks that it was over potted, because the media was too moist. I then repotted it back into the smaller pot. Now the bottom leaf is turning yellow and wrinkled. Is this because of the over potting and getting too much water? I'm trying to attach pics, but keep getting an error. What should I do now? Cut the leaf? Leave it alone?

You don't have enough posts to post pictures yet. You will need at least 5 posts, before the forum will allow you to add pictures.

You don't mention what kind of orchid you have. Is it a phalaenopsis?

If so, then the bottom leaf turning yellow and dying back is normal. It's an old leaf. Phals store energy in their leaves and older leaves die when the plant uses that energy up.

It let me post pics my first post, but not now.
Yes its a phalaenopsis "just add ice" orchid. I do not use ice. I've read enough to know better thanks to this forum.
Should I just let the leaf fall off on its own.

Unless it looks infected, I would just let it die naturally. It may have been from over-water, or just naturally letting the old leaf die off. Were the roots OK when you moved it to the smaller pot? If so, I wouldn't worry too much and just give it good culture from here on.

There were a couple of mushy roots. I cut them away. Everything else on the plant is fine. It growing a new spike or root; I can't tell yet.

If the tip of the growth looks like an oven mitt, it's a spike. If it's cone shaped, it's a root.

Looks okay to me, just an old leaf doing a natural die down.
