While the Enclyclia will only really put out new roots on new growth, the bulbs store moisture which can often get it through until new growth starts. Hopefully you will get new growth, and then new roots soon.

Ohhhh i see… so will the new roots also support the other bulbs that are attached or just the one.

I got a vanda as a gift today!!! Its beautiful! Only concern being the roots. There are nice white ones but there are really thin flimsy dark green ones that seem dry and feel weak. Are these supposed to be there?

The new roots will help support the whole plant. But often the old bulbs do have some old roots to support themselves.

So i shouldnt remove the thin roots?

I'm assuming all those green roots are wet? If so, yes, they are alive and turning green when wet. They are just the older roots. Leave any live roots on the plant. If they are mushy or hollow, then they are dead. Beautiful plant! Does it have a name?

You can start new threads under the appropriate categories (Ex. Vandas) when you have a question about a different orchid. Then people who know lots about or are interested in Vandas will see it and you will get responses from more people with experience growing these.

They are green when dry or wet…. The white ones turn green when i water it but the small ones are always emerald green. Hmmm i never thought about giving my plants names.

Not if they are alive and turned green when they were wetted. Just rotten or totally hollow ones. This is the way Vandas grow.
