Our dollar stores sell the small 10 or 12 inch kebab skewers in packs of 100 for $1.00. I use them in most of my pots as a watering guide.

I use the kebab skewers as well for all but the beefiest spikes. I have long metal spikes for those. The skewers get tossed when the plant is done spiking.

That is a great idea!

I will go check out Chinatown, but it is rather spread apart area. oh, well. One of these days, Chinatown search day!

True, I only use them for maudiae type paphs and mini orchids.

I need something strong and very long for phals, dendrobiums or bulldogs.

Oh, wow~ you must know that area well!

Thank you for the exact street address, that will definitely cut me a lot of time trying to find otherwise.

I'm going out tomorrow if the rain isn't too bad.

I get them in Pearl River Trading, on Broadway, a couple of blocks north of Canal.

I know that place well because it is right along Broadway in SoHo area.

I never really looked inside though. I'll go have a look tomorrow as well.
