We are still barely in the 60's but inside my greenhouse on a sunny day (3 days ago) it got to 122 degrees. Major case of wilt. But I had the shade cloth up so they didn't exactly fry.

Do you all grow indoors or in greenhouses? I have a small patio that faces west with an umbrella and shadecloth. Do you think I should move them inside? I've been buying them like I'm possessed and now I'm worried. One of my older blooming size looks like it's been through a war! I did that last year. Now I keep them covered but I don't think they like temps that high.

Mines in a medium greenhouse that I bought online from home depot, heavy duty plastic. It works well. But as of this season I realized I had to take some old white sheets and hang them to keep them from getting fried hehe. Maybe if you pull them back a little from the sun if possible?

In the winter they share a light in my home with my russian desert tortoise to keep warm and growing.

I checked out the Home Depot greenhouses and I like them a lot but I'm in a townhome with only a very limited outdoor area. I think I need to stop buying cattleyas and vandas and stick to small orchids. I thinking I might have to move everything inside next week because it will be too hot.

I grow all of mine outdoors in a "greenhouse". Its just a wire rack with a plastic covering. Keeps the humidity up in winter, but I don't need it now that I've moved them outside. The South is always humid

Just did this to some of my plants recently, (not Cattleyas though).

Didn't anticipate it happening. So yeah, people here aren't only saying it to make you feel good.

1. It does happen.

2. We admitted it.

You're not alone.

I would not wish this on my worst enemy, but it is good to know that others go through the same mishaps as I do. Hope everyone's plants recover well!!!!!!
