Ok thus is just weird. Now in addition to the keiki and spike which is now forming buds, it is growing yet another spike out of the same node!! This is crazy!

This is really cool to watch as it develops over time. I am enjoying watching what is happening to it each week as you post all the changes.

That's for sure a spike! It has nodes on it and certainly not another leaf. Congratulations! What a really nice plant and of course, you've obviously made it a VERY happy camper!

Default Twin Keikis?

I feed it when I water once per week using Schultz orchid fertilizer (the powdered one), it is sitting in a window beside another phal which also happens to be growing a new shoot off a spike... The room they are in is the coolest room in the house at around 70 degrees. This phal did nothing for years but I didn't know much about them. I found this board and since repotted it last January in mix from repotme.com which has spag, bark, foam rock bits, cork, and hydro balls and it is in one of those carousel pots which it really seems to like, they are great I just wished I could get them in Canada!

Will be interesting to see this phal bloom again!!

Wow that is amazing!! So is that a spike growing from the keiki itself or the node?

Mutant plant!!

The first spike (the long one) is growing from the node beside the keiki. This second one looks like it is growing from the keiki itself right above the base leaf, but I would have thought this keiki way too young/small to be spiking!

It would definitely seem that way! One of my twin keikis that I potted up at the beginning of the year has been in spike/bud for several-many weeks now and here I thought maybe it would be another year at least before it would spike. These two are over a year old, and while the other hasn't spiked it is now growing a new leaf.

That is really pretty sweet what's happening with your plant. I think keikis are a pretty cool development. Thanks for keeping us posted, I think we all look forward to the progression of this plant.
