I use both Cattleya Log, Excel. All three combined, none are totally updated to the last purchase but neither is my OB orchid log entries, just need a few more hours to the day. It's really all in what you want it to be. I initally started off with Excel and Access, Access is not as user friendly as I would like so "delete" and it's out of here. As for Cattleya Log, the newer version 4 is out and you will be impressed if you have used the later versions. Just my worth.

Orchid Tracking Software Female
Default

A couple of years ago I downloaded Version 3. One thing I didn't like about it, among others, was the fact that I could not print out a copy of all the info on one sheet. I needed to refer to other forms in the program to get it all. I like to have a hard copy of my entry. I am a stickler for keeping records, although I sometimes think I don't keep them updated like I should.

I now have all my orchids enteres into Excel. If I go to a show, I can just print out a copy of which plants I have and which crosses. I select only those cells to print. That way I know if I already have what intrests me and which cross it is.

I may try the new version 4 if I can find where to download a trial version of that version. The concept of the program still fascinates me.

Does anyone know the price of the new version, and if a trial version is available?

Default Annoyed with Cattleya-Log

Hi,

I just needed to vent a little. My Windows XP computer fried and I had to move on to a windows 7 machine. I followed all the instructions on the Cattleya Log website in order to move my data from one computer to another. Well guess what, only one plant record (of about 125) actually came over. Luckily I figured out how to read the actual data file, but that means that I have to MANUALLY enter all the plant data myself! This will take many, many hours. If I had known this would happen, I would have used excel from the start and never bothered with Cattleya Log. The most annoying thing is that there is absolutely no technical support. It may be something that was an easy fix, but I'll never know. I have so much invested in the data now, I feel like I need to bite the bullet and re-enter everything.

I just wanted to express some frustration.

Thanks - John
