Yes, it does. But i wouldn't go overboard with keeping it wet either. They can still rot out.
When it gets warm during the spring and summers, they tend to get quite a bit of rain in the wild.
During the fall/winter, they will still get some rain, but it will be less than what they receive during the warm months.
In fact, depending on the Zygopetalum, some species may go through full on dormancies.
