I agree with the advice already given.

As soon as possible, toss out the medium that now has cinnamon in it.

Rinse the roots thoroughly to remove all cinnamon.

Re-pot in fresh medium. If it were me, I would pick through that medium to remove as much of the moss as I could.

The new pot you have it in is appropriate.

Tatobe,
The small black net pot actually has quite a bit of air around it. It's sitting about 1-1.5 inches above the bottom of the clear pot, and there's space on all sides.

Thank you so very much, everyone, for your feedback!! I have just unpotted the phal, rinsed the roots very thoroughly with lukewarm water, and rinsed the medium very thoroughly by soaking it rinsing repeatedly many times. I then repotted in the same medium because I didn't think there was even a trace cinnamon left in there. Hopefully this was the right call. I'm happy to report that all the roots looked very good and healthy actually, no rot and the green tips are getting a tad longer. I hope my poor phal will survive this two-day abuse and will now thrive! Thanks again!

Hello, I think you did the right thing, tossing out the new medium would have been a over the top reaction and washing it is just fine. In fact pouring lots of water through a few times would have probably done as good I think, but it is easy just to remove, wash then repot, the orchid won't be none the wiser!

I had that same question about roots being dead in the middle or top when the bottom looks fine. Glad that question came up. I love this site!
