All the leaves have fallen off my plant. I watered it last week and it was over due to be watered again. What is really weird is that the plant was a little slimy on the leaf base. As soon as I watered it, all the leaves fell off. I did re pot it just in case. Will it grow back from just roots? This plant is very sentimental to me so I would love to keep it alive if I can.
What type of orchid is it? It sounds like crown rot. It could throw a basal keiki if the roots are good, but it will take a long time for more flowers to arrive.
Have you looked to see what the roots look like? If they are still good, you may be able to clean them up and repot it in fresh medium. If you do, keep the crown up a bit so that it doesn't further rot.
I had one that did this ro me when I was new at orchids same thing I watered it and the next day the leaves feel off im guessing my was due to temperature control and over watering. Now with my phaleasnopsis I mist them daily on the top and give a good watering only in dry days. Winter for me is a storing stage when they get ready to bloom . I dont water heavily untill I cut the old bloom spike off
I never water the crown ! Thats where the new growth comes from, and if I do I take a qtip or pepper towel and dry it

You should never water the crown and be careful when misting, don't over do it!! If you find that there's water held up between the leaves you need to get rid of it bu tilting the plant to the side, using a Qtip or cloth to dry it out or blowing really hard. Be sure to water in the mornings so the plant has time to dry before the temperature lowers, and pour the water in the media, not over the plant.
We've all killed a few (or more ) orchids on the way of getting the hang of it, you're not the only one!! Don't bit yourself up!!
Hope you can recover this plant!!

sclar001, I don't hold out much hope that this plant will recover - wish I could be more optimistic. Most of the recoverable Phals that lose their leaves, lose them at the leaf scar (where the leaf attaches to the stem). Your photo suggests that the rot is down into the stem.
You can try just watering the roots and keeping all water away from the crown - maybe I will be wrong, and it will recover.
