Is there any hope?
Ok, so I bought a Phal at the grocery store about two months ago, the tag says that it is a Taisuco Twinkle. It was in bloom with two spikes and about 10 blooms. It was so beautiful i couldn't resist it. Anyway, when i bought it it had a yellow leaf near the bottom and i didn't really think much of it, as they bottom leaves periodically fall off. So i took it home an watered it about every 1 1/2 to two weeks and gave it a little weak fertilizer every other watering. It is in the same place as my other phals, on a shelf in my sunny south facing laundry room with a suplemental flourescent grow light about 12 or so above it. The room also has a cool mist humidifier and the fan is always on. My other phals are all putting out new leaves and strong roots and are very happy. But this guy seems to be committing suicide. It has lost a total of three leaves now and the two leaves that are left (about five inch long) are shriveling and turning yellow. I suspect that it has crown rot as the last leaf just fell out of the crown and was rotted. is there any hope for this guy? Oh also, when i saw things turning bad i cut both of the spikes and put them in water, and did an emergency re-pot. It had been in mostly moss and seemed pretty smothered. I put the little guy in a course bark mix so that it could get more air. Is there anything else i could do? or do i just wait and watch it eventually die?
