Phal with petal holes
Default Phal with petal holes

Hi, I'm new at caring for orchids and i'm not sure what these holes in the petals are. I've tried looking it up online but didn't find too much information nor photos of things that were similar. Other than that the orchid seems to be doing well, it even has another flower spike with flower buds already forming. Can someone help me identify what the cause of this is? Thanks!

p.s sorry pictures are sideways, i used the camera on my computer.

I would say it is just some mechanical damage that happened along the way. Is is just the one flower? Does the rest of the plant and the roots look ok?

Yes it seems to only be one flower. The leaves and roots look healthy to my knowledge. I inspect it often and it didn't seem to be there before. Thank you

In that case, take a close look for bugs. Front, back, and in the leaf junctions.

It may be slugs or snails. I had slugs do this to the flowers and leaves of a phal. Got rid of them easily with slug bait.

Welcome to Orchid Board

My first thought was slugs or snails as well.
