Care of a Vuylstekeara Enzan Fantasy?
Question Care of a Vuylstekeara Enzan Fantasy?

I got it three weeks or so ago from a local shop and at the time it had 3 open flowers on it. I have it sitting on my "Catt Shelf" which is under a 4 bulb T5. A lot of the new buds have started to open but none of them seem to want to open up completely, some have been this way since a few days after I bought it. They all look like they are about half there but won't go any farther. I think it is good as far as water/humidity and the roots look good. I did repot it right after I got it so maybe that stressed it out? Could the light be too much for it? I can't find a lot about Vuyl's and what I do find seems to have a lot of conflicting info on how much light they need. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Your plant is basically a complex hybrid of the Oncidium group. According to Orchid Wiz, it prefers medium to low light. To me, 4 T5's sounds like a lot. Best to have it in some dappled light or indirect light. It is also a cool to intermediate grower but may tolerate warm temps.

I find my Oncidium buds take forever to open. It may be that or they may have stalled due to being re-potted. I would move it out from the bright lights and water when it is just approaching dryness. they don't like to get quite as dry as Cattleyas. Hopefully you will be able to post some bloom pics here.
