Intergeneric is when you take an orchid from two different genera and cross them... so yes like smushing a Catt with a Brass
except you can't mix anything with anything else.
I don't think Catts and Brassia will cross, Brassia are more likely to cross with Oncidiums. Usually you can only cross orchids with other genera in the same alliance, but it's not even quite that simple.
A lot of what we refer to as Oncidium Types are intergenerics with Oncidium in them, or something like Oncidium. Miltionia, Odontoglossum, Brassia all cross easily each other and with Oncidium.
Intergenerics get genus names based on the mixture of other genera in them. So Odontocidium is a cross of Odontoglossum and Oncidium.
