Crown rot on my phal taida king's Caroline Female
Default Crown rot on my phal taida king's Caroline

I noticed on Friday that my poor phal got crown rot. I was thinking to save it I would cut the top two leaves off and clean out the rot. Use cinnamon to keep it dry and hope for a keikei. I have some really nice roots that should provide plenty of energy for the plant.

I know the top two leaves would die but I want to try an experiment with them. I was thinking about placing them into a container with vermiculite and water with a cover. Soaking the plant in a rooting solution and fertilizer once a week to see if I can get some roots from the top half.

Do you guys think this will work?

hmm ... I'd keep anything on the plant that I could. Leaves make food for the plant.
I don't understand what you mean by the "top two leaves" ?
Crown rot starts from the top (crown) ... ?

It's really hard for me to make out what's going on in your pictures.

I don't know if this is rot or not, but something has definitely happened to the stem as it seems to be at an odd angle.

I suppose you could hope for a keiki, but if it were me and I was planning to perform major surgery on a plant in my collection and I didn't have a lot of money invested in said plant (less than 30$) and the plant was easy enough to replace (like at a big box store, or from the internet) then I'd probably pitch it and go buy another one just like it.
