Default bloom spike dying

Thanks for looking, all:

Imagine my delight when a tiny phaleonopsis I bought had begun to put out a new spike....I have over 10 orchids in my home, and it has been a struggle to get them in the right spot because of my layout. I thought I had been doing something correctly, because the spike had formed. I have it in bark and I water it once a week (when dry). I fertilize it once a month with a fertilizer specifically for orchids.

well, one of the bottom most leaves have died off and the spike has stopped growing.....it's been about a month and no new lengthening. This was after the leaves had begun to wilt a bit. Also, the spike is starting to turn brown at the tip. I think it's going to die off soon. When I first grew concerned about the change in condition (about two weeks ago) I moved the orchid to an area that has been getting more light. The orchid, before, was exposed to direct light filtered through a stained glass window. The new area has early morning direct sun, which I thought was better for it.

does anyone have any feedback about what is going on? I'm at a loss. The plant has been in the same bark for about 6 months (i repotted it once I rec'd it). I did un pot it when I noticed the change, to see if there was any root rot. There was some, I cut it away and then packed it back in the pot i have for it.

super frustrated. Thanks for any help.
