Would appreciate suggestions on "easy to grow" Miniature orchids.

I strongly second Andy's, but I'd suggest you call the order in. I've spoken on various occasions to Andy himself and a guy named Bill, and they're both eager to talk to you about about orchids. A great way to address questions specific to your situation.

I recommend the Haraella, too. It blooms nearly all the time, and it can be kept quite easily by mounting it bare-root on a hunk of red lava rock and put in a vase or small terrarium with water kept on the bottom. The rock wicks up the water and keeps the orchid watered and the exposure of the roots to air keeps the roots from rotting. This is how I grow mine. During the day, it smells of lemon furniture polish (make certain you buy a fragrant one...not all are). Andy's has this.
As for attention spans of young children, I began collecting plants when I was very young. I have yet to lose interest. Every child is different, and plants are a great way to stimulate a child's mind. Growing plants teaches a child so many things. Patience, science are just two that come to mind.

My twinkle pink profusion has p-bulbs between the sizes of a nickle and dime. The white one seems larger in all he photos I see, but I am thinking, my little guy might still be a baby, though it has put out 2 spikes so far.

I do have the white one. It's about the same size as my oncidium rosy sunset, which has pink flowers too, and is fragrant, but not in a pleasant way (it smells like cupcakes and cat pee)... so the OP's granddaughter might wish to avoid that one. LOL!

I recommend Sedirea japonica - similar to a mini phal but fragrant and with smaller flowers

My suggestion is to get one of each. Don't laugh..... OK, maybe just a few.

You get variety (plus year-round blooms), AND, In my experience, whichever ones aren't dead in a year or two, are the ones which do best in your conditions. Then get more of those.

PS. I prefer mini-catts.
