Most of the time, moving the plant to another location shortens flower life because of a change in temperature, humidity, light or a combination of them.
It's safer to leave the plant as it is although you'd like to put it somewhere you can show.

Once the buds are open, I would recommend you keep it out of direct sunlight. IME, most flowers -- whether they be orchids, African violets, or what have you -- tend "wear out" faster if exposed to the heat of direct sunlight shining on them.
I totally agree. Raise the level of light untill it blooms
and then lower or shelter them for a longer bloom.
