Thumbs up NoID new development

Well I was trying to upload pictures but at the moment the system is not letting me so I'll just share what I discovered.

Over a month ago now I picked up a NoID from Meijer's because it was this beautiful dark blue/violet color. I later learned that actually this plant had been dyed and that most likely the flowers would be white next time it blooms.

I'm proud to say that the blooms are still there and beautiful. In at least one of the flowers the dye has receded some. Some of the edges have thinned. Most recently I discovered that it has started growing a new leaf.

What surprised me really though was one day while watering I removed the plant in its clear plastic pot from the decorative pot. Turning as I was while it soaked I discovered a number in addition to 'Pink Pirate'! I don't know if this is still considered a NoID but I am happy to learn it has a name. I was tempted to look it up but I would rather be surprised, at least for now.

In other news my mini Phal which I also thought a NoID I found a tag and name for that somehow alluded me. It hasn't flowered in over 4 years so I really don't remember what they look like but have again decided not to look it up and just be surprised. Right now I'm satisfied that its leaves are no longer limp and droopy.

I'll share pics of the dyed 'Pink Pirate' when I can.

Thanks,
Lotis

It would make sence that if blue dye were added to a pink plant a nice purple would happen, so congrats, you probably have a beautiful pink phal!

Default Thanks!

Thanks that makes sense to me as well. One of the flowers looks more pink where the dye appears to be receding. The flowers are thinning around the edges but they're still very beautiful and I can't wait till the day comes that I can see the real flowers.

(Still won't let me post pictures.)

Have you thought about putting your pictures out on a photo hosting site like photobucket then putting a link to them?
