Default I love spring!!

I just wanted to share.

This is my first spring as an orchid grower. (What do we call ourselves anyway? Hobbyists? Enthusiasts? Growers?). I got my first orchid in June of last year, and joined OB not long after and I do have to say, you guys have saved my orchid collection! Without you all, all of my plants would be dead! So I just wanted to share what I found today when examining my plants.

My noid vinicolor paph has TWO new growths. Yippee!!

New buds getting ready to open on two noid mini phals, one of which spiked under my care!

A brand new spike on another noid mini Phal. This plant didn't give me a very good show when I bought it. One bloom that dropped very quickly. So I'm very excited to see what it will do now!

And a new pbulb growing on my Oncidium Rosy Sunset 'Pacific Satin'

A new leaf on my Phal Bellina after seeing no new growth at all for quite a while.

Thanks OB! This hobby is awesome and so are all of you wonderful folks!

Still fairly new myself although I've had a few Orchids several years. But I want to second here that this board has grown my interest and saved my Orchids. Working on ordering my first Oncidium.

At least one of my twin keikis are showing signs of growth since potting as its leaves are bigger and a root is growing through a small hole in the side of the pot (cool but bad if I needed to repot). Also its leaves went from kind of limp to standing our horizontally.

Also my new Paph's two smaller buds are developing well. And my old Paph's new growth grew a little bit more since repotting. So I just wanted to - as I had before - second what RandomGemini has said here. I'm much more confident in my care of Orchids and can't wait for the learning to continue.

Thanks everyone!
Lotis

WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the term you are looking for may be 'orchid junkie', or 'addict'

I know my orchid growing improved immensely after I joined OB! When people comment on/admire my orchids, ask how I learned to grow them, or comment that their's don't bloom, or always die - I always tell them about OB!

I'm definitely an addict. I have a standing hangout time set aside to play a game with friends on Saturdays. This saturday, I told them I would be unavailable before five because I have an "event." By event, I mean that there's an orchid show being put on by the local OS and I'm not missing it!! LOL!

I know what you mean. I have 5 orchids, no 7, that I have been able to rebloom and they all have flowers right now.

It only makes me want more... sigh.

Well, now, orchid shows are really important. I'm sure everyone understands that! Enjoy the show!

I had some orchids back in 1999 or so, killed them, and 2013 got started on this journey woth rescur phals like many others. Strangely, they are not thriving, but they are still alive! I've thrown 3 away due to crown rot and maybe burnout. Don't know. I really started growing orchids when I stopped messing with half dead plants. Now, I buy only blooming size thriving plants, dare I say that I have chosen myself.

My tahoma glacier is still spiking (new buds forming) and has been in flower since February. My phal "happy girl" has had flowers since December. My Dendrobium love memory "fizz" is still in flower. I have a little noid phal putting out a spike. My spathoglottis, masdivalia, and oncidiums, and cattleyas all have various bulbs, leaves, and roots moving forward. My lilacs and irises are growing outside. Spring is great!

Came home with five new orchids for me, one for the daughter and all are in bloom! I had to leave when I hit the end of my wish list. That was actually really nice, to be able to go to the orchid show and buy plants. I did get one nice deal on an oncidium twinkle (got it for 7$) and only one plant that I'm not sure I can grow, though the grower convinced me that I could..

We'll see.
