Default Just got back from the NYBG orchid show!

Spent a couple hours slowly walking through the exhibit, which while not as good as last year was still fun. I took about 616 photos!! It'll take quite a bit to edit them all but I'll post some in this thread and on my pbase page for anyone who wants to see them! It was an exhausting trip, but it was worth the pain!

The gift shop was good this time! A lot more to chose from! Nothing great on the 50% off table, too bad, but I found two I liked quite a bit. I have bean wanting an iwan. appleblossom since I've heard they smell of apricots! Well I saw three in one little area. I bent down to smell on and called my husband over to smell it. Some lady tried to grab it as I was going in for a second smell so I grabbed it first. I couldn't believe she was trying to grab it on me as I was showing my husband and smelling it! There were three others in the same spot, and two more on the other side of the table. Crazy lady! But I let my husband pick the second one. I had three or four I could have bought, but I only have room for two since I have other new ones here and coming. So aside from the appleblossom I also got one called Odontoglossum/Oncidium intergenerics, but looking at photos it looks like a Miltassia (Mtssa) Shelob ('tolkien' or not, I'm not sure) So I'll make a tag that has both names on it.

I have them both in the west window with the sheer. On less then sunny days I keep the sheer open, and only close it when everyone gets a little warm.

So all and all it was a great trip. Might skip it next year if they have more of a theme again. They're themes that are more plain seem to have better displays, like last year. The one thing that always upsets me when we've gone how everyone just walks through without taking time to look. There are other wonderful plants there that are not orchids. And in walking quickly they miss some of the orchids hidden in amongst the other plants.

Can't wait to edit everything, it might take a long time, so sorry about that.

If anyone local is debating going, go! If you want a coupon pm me and I'll give you the one we used. Not sure if it still works but we used it last year and this for a good discount.

Yeah just like them!!!!! It's such a sweet wonderful smell! I not big on floraly smells, I like food type smells (at least for lotions and bubble bath stuff) so having a flower smell like apricots is awesome!
