Shipped Orchids Arrived Very Cold
Hello everyone!
I just ordered some orchids from a very lovely seller but the plants were very cold when they arrived. Is there anything I should look out for in the next couple of days? The plants seem to be in very good condition otherwise.

you don't give your location or where they were shipped from....generally, orchids do well when shipped, even for long periods...unless they have been exposed for many hours of below freezing temps, they will be fine....cold injured orchids show signs of burst cells, like dark green stains on the leaves....even when frozen for several hours, I have recovered many plants over time tho....unless your plants are blackened or dark green wet limp looking, they will be fine...

Thank you very much! I ordered them from Hausermann's in Illinois and I live in Maryland. I was just curious of signs I should look for as I have never seen cold damaged orchids before but they look to be in lovely condition and are bright green. But thank you very much for the help!

They should be perfectly fine. I've had orchids shipped from Hausermann's in the winter and if it is too cold, they don't ship and if they feel that anything is delicate, they include a heat-pack. I like ordering from them as they have a good grasp of what winter is and know how to pack the orchids to keep them safe.
Good luck with your new orchids!

Thank you very much for the help! I am just such a worrier. I couldn't be happier with Hausermann's either, they are lovely plants and arrived so well packaged. I will have to post pictures shortly!

How long did it take for your Hausermann's to ship? I just got notification mine shipped today, and I'm a bundle of excitement. We're in the 70's currently, but I know by next week we will be back in the 50's with possible lows in the 30's.

I've ordered twice and mine arrived within two days, the first one I bought took 3 because it snowed, but I believe the post office held it so it wasn't out in the cold. Usually on the second day it gets here either in the morning or around noon and everything is very very very well packaged, even the buds were wrapped.

I agree with the others that they should be fine. What sort of plants were they?
