Spotted Phal. What is it?

Just note, "Just add Ice" Orchids are reported to be good quality BUT the technique of watering with Ice is controversial to say the least. Most folks (including me) don't think it's a good idea, but it does work for some. If you go for one of those just read up hear about the watering method and decide for yourself if you want to use it.

I've read about them. I'm floppy on the idea. I have always allowed my water to settle to room temperature after pouring it in the can warm from the sink. I understand the slow exposure idea, letting it melt without water logging, but I tried to avoid temperature shock!

Although, the number of plants that survive people using ice water on them? Who knows.

I can only get JAI plants through Sam's Club, and I dont shop there.

I wasn't suggesting he add ice to his orchids, lol, cuz I know that's dumb. Just that I've seen the kind of orchid he's looking for as one of the ones they sell at the local stores. I have actually always had good luck with their orchids..once I get them home and get rid of the sphag and start watering them normally. Heh.

I realised that, sorry didn't meant to imply that you were suggesting that. Just wasn't sure if LoveOscar was aware of them yet.

Like you I like to use room temperature water. That's why I keep rain water stocks in the house as well as the stuff outside.

I have one very similar to this and it was a NoID from Gerbes (Kroger). Hausermann has the Yu Pin Pearl Phals, they look a lot like it as well. I also love this flower and have always thought of this pattern as looking like paint splatter. Granted I am an art major, not a serial killer.

Thanks, I just finished ordering a 2.5" pot of Yu Pin Pearl from Hausermann.

I might be ordering more, they have the same Den. aggregatum I got while I was in Gulfport, MS (and subsequently killed by frost this winter How'd that happen? Oh yeah... ) and if I can't find it locally, I'll swallow the shipping charges.

Supposedly, I've heard else where, not to use sink water. I let it sit over night to adjust to room temperature and to let the chlorine "evaporate". If that actually happens, and if it matters, I have no clue. Nothing has protested yet! I would like to switch to rain water, and that is one of my hopeful projects for this summer, to set up a collection system. But for now, we make do.

It probably helps that my local water is deep underground spring water. Down in Gulfport we had some intensely sulfur-y water, so it could definitely be worse.
