Before the area orchid shows, I was pretty desperate for some new orchids, too. I am so much happier now.

Yeah that's what I thought was going to happen to me. Unfortunately there were no shows in my immediate area, and the one I drove 2 hours to get to was a complete bust (only 3 vendors). I did get a Den. nobile, but that only cured me for a few weeks

If you like salmon colored blooms, how bout a Trichopilia 'Charles?' Its a hybrid between two species, and it has pinkish-salmon flowers with a sweet scent. I've found it to be a pretty easy grower, too, with culture similar to an Oncidium. Just my

Is this one heat sensitive? It says intermediate to warm growing. It can get excruciatingly hot here where I live. How do you grow yours?

Hmmm, I grow mine under lights in my laundry room, which gets into the 80's in the summer, and as cold as 55 or 60 at night during the winter. I don't know how well the plant will take heat, but my extremes of temperature at least don't seem to have phased it. Thankfully it isn't fussy about high humidity either.

I purchased a Blc. George King 'Serendipity' as a bag baby from Lowes. Hopefully I'll see it bloom sometime this year. When I did a search for that orchid online, I found a post on another message board, and their George King 'Serendipity' bloomed pink and as it aged, it turned a peachy salmon color, and it also became fragrant as the bloom matured.

I agree, there is only one way to remedy the itch - you need a shopping trip, my friend! I never really feel bad about buying one, or ten, orchids in one trip - I am happy to give my hard-earned hairstylist money to people who work even harder than I do - the orchid vendors!! I am a big cattleya grower and like the oranges too - there are so many great oranges out there right now. Any of the "trick or treat" hybrids are beautiful. One of my favorites right now is a beautiful orange one you would love, its called Potinara Melinda Rose Funke "christy", check out the pic - I bought it from Orchids by Hausermann in Villa Park, Illinois www.orchidsbyhauermann.com

Blc. George King 'Serendipity' is absolutely one of my favorites!! I wish I had one right now; the last one I had, I burned the leaves so badly, but I learned from that experience!! It is a gorgeous peachy orange, and a beautifully shaped cattleya, this is another one you should search for!!

I actually decided on getting a Blc. George King 'Southern Cross' so I'll wait on getting the 'serendipity' for now. There are just way too many good looking orchids for my wallet to handle lol. My wish list is about 50 orchids long.

I think the next one on my purchase list is Crystelle Smith 'Madeline' or Crystelle Smith 'BK orchids'. Only problem is that I can't find either of these plants for sale anywhere
