Update from a newbie. Thanks everyone Female
Talking Update from a newbie. Thanks everyone

First let me say thank you to everyone here who has helped me. I doubt my orchids would be alive without you all.

I first bought 4 rescue seedling Cattleya (1-21-14). Didn't know caring for orchids was so different than my other plants. None had roots to speak of and I pretty much expected them to die. Thanks to all of you they have been repotted and two are showing new growth. I think I can see some roots, but that might be wishful thinking. The one that seamed to be dry is looking better.

Sense then I bought two rescue Phals. One I'm not NoID that I'm unsure why it was marked down to $5 as it still has blooms and a spike is growing now. The other phal was also $5 and it's done blooming, but it has the best roots of any I've got by far.

So, from someone who expected to fail, Thanks to all of you who have helped me succeed.

Good growing!

I know my orchid growing improved immensely after I joined OB! To me, there's no better resource!

Great work, that's awesome!

I second what you both have said, since joining OB my knowledge base has grown and I feel more confident as an Orchid enthusiast.

The group of Orchids I sought help for are still in question but I feel good that they will make it. I can happily say that the new fan my Paph started then stopped growing appears to be growing again! The limp leaves on all the rest are not any more wrinkly and many seem to VERY SLOWLY be firming up.

I too came across some rescue Phals at Lowe's. They were sitting in bone dry sphagnum moss and from the limp, wrinkled leaves I knew they needed water. One also had a clay pot with it, someone took the other one's I guess. I got them both for $3.5!!! They each have two spikes and many flowers although the white is now dropping most of its flowers the fuschia colored one's leaves immediately became significantly more firm and the flowers perked up.

So I just wanted to second Jasonmom in successes and great thanks!

Cheers to everyone!
Lotis
