You can check my stuff out on my pbase page it's gardengirl13's Photo Galleries at pbase.com I have TONS of photos on there! I love shooting everything, it's one of my coping techniques for dealing with my health.

Do you have a page for your photos? I used to shoot some medium format. Tons of fun!! Now with my health I've had to "downgrade" to a micro 4/3's system. Like the old 70's film cameras! They're awesome! I have the OMD EM5.

I don't "currently" have room for larger plants, all the ones I bought I think the spans range from 4-10" so they're not overly huge yet. Yet. But we're working on it. I either plan on adding lights to the front window, or putting up the shelves we had the orchids on in the other house. The setup of this house makes it kind of hard since it's an open floor plan. I'll have to get some stuff moved around. But once the shelves are up, or we use the window, or if it's not going to completely break the bank change my current orchid window into a bay window they will be lots of room for everyone to grow.

imageopolis - Photography and Digital Camera Reviews and Gallery then look for my name. James Mickelson. It used to be usefilm.com but changed the name but I haven't been there. But I think you just look under my name in photographers. I am a printer so there is more there than you can see. A print on good printing paper has much more detail than a picture on a computer screen but it give you an idea of what I shoot. I have 100's of prints and 1000's of slides.

Ooo I love Dancing Aspens and Iris 2! That's great work!

yeah I have thousands of prints laying around in albums and boxes. I also have books made. I did a cookbook 2 christmas's ago with our favorite recipes and photos of each dish, the family loved it so much I had to print one for each of them! I also did a book of the orchid show we went to last year, it came out great! On pbase you can see all the photos I took and edited. nybg orchid show 2013 Photo Gallery by gardengirl13 at pbase.com In a 2 hour period I think I took about 400 photos. That's the great thing about digital. I was late into switching since I LOVED film (have tons of slides too) but the cost was just too much for the developing and the film itself. It's hard to spend $9.99 on film then another $20 to develop it for 24 images. Now it's basically free for shooting hundreds.

I have yet to switch. I just love to get into my darkroom and spend hours printing. I tried doing digital and trying to print on a printer. Even had an expensive printer but just wasn't the same. I shoot my orchids with a small Nikon digi but I just love the 4x5 for darkroom work. My 11x14 camera is a pain to shlep around but when I do shoot with it the contact prints are just....well... soooo luscious. I like your new house. Garden. I grow Japanese maples too. I think you have a great eye. Keep shooting.

One issue with digital is, at least IME, that there are some colors in the reds and purples that digitals cannot capture or have a great deal of difficulty capturing accurately.

Actually it depends on the camera and lenses. I had one, that I sold due to it being way to heavy was the canon 70-200 f/4 IS, it took great reds/oranges! In good light the 17-40 was great too!

These were the orangey red geraniums, not the purpley red ones. It captured it perfectly.

great job with reds! photo - gardengirl13 photos at pbase.com

These were taken with my OMD, for a little camera it's handles them pretty good I think.

I love this one!

it's even good with CRAZY pinks like this
awesome coleous photo - gardengirl13 photos at pbase.com

even my hard to get magenta was ok with this camera
finally got accurate colors!! photo - gardengirl13 photos at pbase.com

I do agree though years ago they couldn't handle some colors, but they've gotten much better!

Yummy. Digital and color were made for each other.

One of these days I'll post a picture of something.

These days I only buy mature orchids.

Why wait years for flowers? I figure the additional cost only amounts to a few dollars a year anyhow.

Love your spirit GG. I am also battling health issues so my orchids and model railroad have become a solace and pathway to relaxation, and a way to occupy my mind. I have a wonderful partner who has been so supportive of me.
