L. tenebrosa black spots on leaf Male
Default L. tenebrosa black spots on leaf

Hello

I have L. tenebrosa and i noticed litle black spots on her leaves.
The spots appeared on both new leaves that are now few months old. I noticed the spots when the leaf opened.

Any suggestions please?

That's leaf spotting fungus. It usually won't kill the orchid but it's unsightly. You can use a fungicide to try to keep it from spreading. Orchids grown outdoors, here in Florida, usually have a lot of that on their leaves.
People are probably getting tired of hearing me talk about this, but one way to cut down on fungus problems is to give your orchid more calcium. First of all, use a fertilizer that contains calcium and magnesium. Many fertilizers don't have it. Secondly, use a calcium/magnesium supplement once or twice a month. Ask your local garden supply store what cal/mag supplements they have available. It will take about six months, but eventually you will stop having fungus problems.

Thanks a lot Tucker. I will try that. good to know it means no perticular harm but it is very unsighty!

The position of this plant is just under my C. aclandiae which is mounted thats why i mist it daily. And because of that L. tenebrosa gets a lot of humidity and the leaves get wet all the time... This is probably the reason for the fungus i assume?
