Dendrobiums an Cambrias loosing flowers

Hi all,

Not long after receiving these home, they lost their flowers. I wondered if they flower shorter than phalys? or if they dont transport well? or maybe i been watering them too much. i read somewhere they dont need much water around these times.

Onc. alliance ("Cambria" is Onc. alliance intergeneric hybrid) usually hold blooms about a month.

I don't know what type of Den you have - this time of year, perhaps nobile type? I would expect about a month or so ...

If plants were in full bloom when purchased, you don't know how long they had already been in bloom. So, it could be that they were at their natural end.

Or, change of environment (warmer, dryer, etc) can cause premature wilting.

Onc. alliance generally like potting media to remain lightly moist.

Different types of Dens have differing water requirements - growing / in spike / in bloom nobile types should not dry out completely. Den-phal types should approach dry to just becoming dry. There are other types of Dens, but those are the most likely if bought from a store.
