Thanks for this little "series" you've shared, definitely a big help. I think I may have screwed up my repotting because I didn't know they had to be planted shallow...hmm...I mean they seem to be okay. The mother Phal's the one I'm most worried about but I'll go post that in the thread...
Shallow potting helps them dry evenly which helps avoid wet conditions down under the root mass. Remember that they naturally grow on tree trunks and branches.

Definitely understand...I had watched some YouTube videos about repotting and got the impression that planting them "more than shallow" was the way to go. I don't think I planted them deep but...good to know for the future!
AH this helped so much! Put me at ease with my recent repotting. I repotted my rescued Phal from a clearance section into a small clay pot with orchid bark with the top roots exposed like yours.
