Default meiracyllium trinasutum care

Hey,

I am happy to say, I finally got my paws on a cute little meiracyllium trinasutum. However I am getting contradictory culture info:
Some say keep it bone dry or else it will die off, while others are misting it daily.

Any suggestions for a slab mount ?
What about light? for now it is low hanging out with the other cattleyas.

I have tried a few ways to grow it, but mounted is definitely the best... My specimen (about 8" x 12" or so, if i had to guess) is mounted on cork and has been for many years. I just pull pieces off of it occasionally to mount up.

No idea how it grows best, for me, once established it will grow any way you try. It takes a little while to establish though. I water mine when I water all the other mounts, about 5 times a week.

Cattleya light.

I don't have as much experience with this species as littlefrog - I got mine last spring ...

Mine is growing on what appears to be a cedar shingle with some sphag. In summer, it's bone dry in at least a day, so I watered it well daily. This time of year, the sphag takes longer to dry. I spray some water on roots not in the sphag during warm, dry weather. I water well when sphag is bone dry - every few days.

These seem to have a rambling growth habit, so growing mounted would seem to be ideal.

It's been doing well so far.

Well... I was told, and had read lower light, but will have to wait and see if that's been sufficient for blooming ... especially now after reading littlefrog grows his in Catt light... I did move mine to a brighter window (with a Catt and some Dens) for winter, as the window it was in for summer gets zero sun in winter.

To be clear, catt light for me is basically the same light that everything gets... I grow under lights. Although I do try to keep this species closer to the lights than most other things.

In the summer I put it outside under about 50% shade.

I think for a newly mounted piece, I would err on the side of lower light. Once it has had a chance to grow some roots and ramble a bit, then higher light. As with most orchids, once established it is quite tolerant of the various forms of abuse we heap upon it.

I also grow under lights.
For me it is basically:
1 t5ho for phalaenopsis
2 t5ho for lower light cattleyas (sophronitis), dendrochillum
3 t5ho for plants that can take punishment.

3 tubes is equivalent to about 3500FC

For now, I placed the meiracyllium next to a tiny Encyclia polybulbon in the 3x zone. Might want to move it back to 2 for a while.
