Default Mounted Leptotes bicolor in a Terracotta Pot

Has anyone ever heard of putting mounted orchids into small terra-cotta pots to help increase humidity? I was always hesitant to buy a mounted orchid of any variety, but I couldn't pass up this little guy when I saw him. The grower I bought him from told me to keep him in a pot to increase humidity since I didn't have an area to hang him (and knew that I would forget to water him constantly). It seems to be working.

Hang it from the rim of a vase big enough to contain it. Put gravel in the bottom, add water and place on a heat mat (I do this with another plant). If the vase is large enough, you can put plants on top of the gravel (if you don't worry about disease). Voila! A terrarium.

You can also get the chimney for a hurricane lamp and place it around the pot.

Here are some better pictures of the actual set up... There are a few packing peanuts in the bottom of the pot and the pot usually sits in a humidity tray very near the lights in my grow setup.

Very nice! I notice it has a bit of the red spotting that my brightest one has.
