Question "Zimbabwean Orchid" Bulbophyllum maximum

I recently bought one of these "Zim" orchids. They are growing on one of these Zimbabwean grass Xerophyta retinervis/ bobbejaanstert plants.

Now I have read on here that the orchids do not normally grow on these bobbejaanstert plants and will eventually die? The people who sell them apparently only transplant them on these bobbejaanstert plants for transit into SA.

I have heard of people repotting the orchids, but I would like to find out how you do it without killing them?

I'm adding a pic of the plant (found online, not my plant, but def the same)

I see the bobbejaanstert is also a very pretty flower, so would like to keep it alive too.

Its such a pitty that I cant keep the orchids on this stump, because its so pretty together

Is it possible to find out why they die? Phals also are transported using moss, and they do often die due to this, but the death is caused by the roots not getting proper care due to under-education of the people who buy them. If you can deliver an environment adequate for keeping the plant healthy, then the plant will live. I think the first step would be to examine the root system and also research the care instructions for the plant.

Bulbos need high humidity which being kept on a mount can make more difficult. Unless there's something innately toxic in the other plant, or it simply outgrows and strangles the orchid I think that this might be the reason people find the combo difficult to maintain. I think if kept in a proper greenhouse, or some other set up that lets you maintain constant humidity it would grow well. It is a GORGEOUS mount!
