Help saving my keikis (phal) Female
Default Help saving my keikis (phal)

Hi.

My Phal has been in recovery since it suffered from root rot and has now been producing two keikis in one branch. Keikis have not yet roots altough I saw one small green nub in the bigger keiki (assuming it to be a rootlet). Now my problem is that the branch where the keikis are has started to yellow from the top. Yellow is now a few millimeters from the upper keiki. Both keikis are only about an inch tall and have two little leaves in them. The mother plant has now also started to grow a teeny tiny root (finally). Is there anything I can do besides wait and see? The plant is in a small aquarium and has really enjoyed it there (on moss and having extra light).
Thanks in advance.

One on my phals had a keiki and the mother started to cancel the tip of the spike it was on. But it never went below the nod where the keiki was attached. I would wait and see it it reaches the nod Idk what to do then. I hope that someone wiser comes along and helps.
Good luck.

Leave it develop. It may abort one of the keikis. There is little you can do at this point except wait and give the entire plant good culture. Warmth, medium light levels, and water if there are roots on the mother. If not then mist the undersides of the leaves a couple times a day.

Thank you all for the replies! This calms me down a bit. I tried to take a photo of the keikis. The mom is in bad shape BUT is now much better than a month ago. So let's have our fingers crossed and hope for the best. This noid i bought for sale (last August) and it had bad roots already. I wish I would have repotted it when I first got it. I forgot to tell you that I'm using a weak fertilizer and seaweed extract. OH, and they've got a bit too much light so I reduced lighting today so let's hope that the temps don't drop too much as the lights were warming my glass box nicely.
