Mine was originally on a tree fern totem but I found that keeping it properly hydrated was too difficult on a mount so I plopped the mount in a 6" pot and back-filled w/chc a couple of years ago...sphag on top. Since then it's done much better.
Lots of water...I even have mine sitting in a saucer of water. Lots of light...I grow it under HO T5's in the Winter and in full sun most of the day in the Summer. If you're giving it enough light...I don't think it's possible to over-water this plant.
I believe it would do awesome in s/h...if you can keep it from tipping over. It has a strong tendency for being very top heavy as it grows up and out.
In the Winter I will allow the saucer to dry out a day or two but in the Summer....I water it every day and the saucer gets filled every day.
This is the tail end of last Spring's blooming. Mine has it's biggest flush of blooms in the Spring. It's not in bud yet this Spring...but it should begin to bud out before too long. Very reliable bloomer.
I also have sanguinea (just got it a little more than a year ago) and I'm growing it the same way. My sanguinea is in bud now. The only difference is I don't have this one on a mount...just potted up in shredded redwood. In a saucer of water also.
