I've had mine for 2 or 3 years now, growing in a mixture of medium bark and sphagnum. Mine blooms reliably if I give it lots of light and water. Indoors I water it twice a week and little less in the winter. I often put it outdoors in the summer and water it every day. I think there are some people on the board who have grown it successfully in s/h.
I just noticed its first bud yesterday. It is easy to tip over and the pseudobulbs easy to break off, at least if you have a cat like mine.
Those long leaves are just too tempting.
