Another question for the experienced ebayers...what information should i have about a species orchid before buying it? Assuming the plants are what he says they are...do species need any special kind of registration to be judged in shows, used as parents, etc?

No, they just have to look like the species. If judges think they aren't species but a similar hybrid they won't judge it as species.

I bought a flask from a seller in Florida Fifteen Cattleya rex seedlings. According to the seller, they were flasked in February 2011. They will be deflasked, sprayed with fungicide, wrapped up in paper towel and shipped to me USPS priority in a little box, which is supposed to take two days.

As the weather is still quite wintery, the seller said they would hold the flask until I gave the word to ship. Hopefully I can get them up here in a couple of weeks or so.

This is going to be a challenge, but I'm ready. I'm really excited. **

Here are the photos taken by the seller.

Weather's warming up and I believe I will have these shipped to me next week.

I'm trying to figure out what to pot them in. I really hate sphagnum and would love to avoid it if possible. Do you think I can plop these directly into an s/h compot, or even separate pots? Some are over three inches tall already. S/h seems like it could be a great way to keep them moist but not saturated.

The story of these flasks continues HERE!
