AG - Yes! Prince Ed has been on my list for several months now. Nice choice and best of luck to you too!
Will update this post when I finally make a decision...

Heh heh I'm being watched! Hmmm well I'm getting an area ready for them first, then I'll test it out by germinating some annual seeds there, and if everything seems to be under control and manageable, I'll go out on a limb and grab a flask or two of something awesome.

Oh indeed you are being watched, and don't forget listened to. Good luck can't wait to here what you will end up with.

Here's my setup so far: A 400w HPS light suspended over the grow area. I guess I will use the aquarium to keep the humidity high around the flasklings until they toughen up.
As I said, I'll start by using the space to sprout some nasturtium, marigold, moonflower, and butterfly weed seeds, and if all that seems to go well, it will be flask time

Don't forget a small fan in there to circulate that humid air to lessen fungus problems. That really stalled my deflasking experiences...
I think out of two flasks of Cattleya, I ended up with 3 plants from one of the flasks. Another Dendrobium has something bad happen to it before I managed to deflask it - either an errant sunlight beam nailed it, or the dislodging of the cunning angle I'd placed it at by someone else around the house flat onto the heating mat "cooked" them... :/
If you're aiming at paphs, you may like to check that light isn't "too strong" for them.

Patience is not my suit, but I have also been thinking about getting some flasks. I will get something that will flower sooner than 10 years though. lol
There is a member in my society who bought a small seedling of Paph. Saint Swithin which took over 20 years to bloom for the first time! I'm sure the newer corsses will not take that long, but oh, boy!
The good thing of getting flasks is that hopefully one or two of the whole thing might come out outstanding.
Also, the price. Since multiflorals can be quite expensive. You pay time instead of dollars I guess. lol
I'm trying to see if I can get a flask from Ching Hwa in Taiwan, or just simply from someone in the US like orchid Inn. They have so many that I would love to get, but limited space is always the issue. hmmm

20 years now that's a wait. I believe I would get something that would bloom sooner also.

Has anyone ordered flasks from Ching Hwa?
I emailed them twice and they finally answered me, but with only partial answer.
I think they have communication problems. hmm

Now I'm starting to think about getting some kind of Oncidium type. The way they grow is really fascinating to me and they seem to grow nonstop given the right conditions. Plus lots of them are fragrant, and...that's important

...and after a quick browse, it appears that it's mostly cattleya flasks available on ebay. Someone just posted a flask of c. rex that looks beautiful...will someone buy it and send me a seedling please...
