I would just lay the plant "on" the sphagnum moss bed. The plant is an epiphyte and doesn't need the root area constantly wet. The roots can absorb the humidity from the close proximity to the wet sphagnum. Keep it warm and in subdued light.

Giving a manage the receipt from a different purchase, and getting more than the price of the orchid does not sound right. I hope that I am misunderstanding but that doesn't seem to reflect so well on a supposedly an uplifting hobby.
