One of my vandas has developed what looks to be crown rot. The roots are drying at the tips but the topmost leaves are dry. I heard that putting hydrogen peroxide on the rot and watering just the roots will help. Any help?
It is a mechanical damage= it must have bent the two top leaves. Cut or pull it out and make a paste out of water and cinnamon powder and dab the wound.
I can see that there are robust roots at the middle part. You can top that and have two plants.
I agree with Tucker that it is strange to have crown rot on Vandas.

The glass window serve as a magnifying glass and must also have burned the new leaves....better put it outdoors in a bright shady place where the humidity in the atmosphere can help with the roots. It looks like it is dry indoors where it is now. The cold weather in Florida is over, I think you are getting warmer now.
Thanks for the help. My plants are all outside in a patio covered with dark (not totally black) screening. The vandas do come inside during temps colder than 48. I'll try to see about pulling out the center leaves. I'm not too sure what you mean about splitting the plant into another.
The middle part of the plant have robust roots. "Top" it or count a couple of leaves below the last middle root and cut it there. You will have two Vandas as a result.
If you cut the two topmost leaves it will grow new leaves again just as you cut the middle part the one below will produce new leaves and even a basal keiki as a result.
But if you want a very tall Vanda then don't bother to top it.
