I was just reading Cattelyas for Beginners Part One, by the American Orchid Society and thought about this post. One of the last paragraphs talks about how fertilizer causes vegetative growth, blind sheaths, and how Catts can go for several years without fertilizer. That is how little of the stuff they need. Something to keep in mind.
What a coincidence! Today I saw this very hybrid at our local conservatory. There were several plants and they were all in bloom. It was quite warm and sunny in there; high humidity too. All of the plants were quite large—lots of pseudobulbs—but just a few flowers here and there.
You can do it! The flowers are a beautiful red color and smell like roses...you will get them eventually!
James Tried to post pics but will have to have help from son in law tonight. There are 22pseudobulbs on my Jewel Box. It's in a 6 in. pot. The bulbs are fat and it is in a media that looks like gravel (from the grower) I had forgotten about soph. in background so I'll see that it gets a little cooler temps. Thanks a lot for your help.
White Rabbit I think I need a better light meter! I'll be ordering one lol! Also thanks for your advice about moving it to adjust light. Just didn't think of that.
