I applied keiki paste to a blooming spike and it didn't seem to bo anything to the flowers on the same spike. But I did bump up the fertilizer by a 1/4 of full strength when the keiki got its first leaf and root. Well roots. It made two roots at the same time.

Many people are already using the compounds in Keiki paste on their orchids without knowing it. Superthrive, Essentials and other growth products use the same growth compounds IBA NDD or giberillic acid.

i have used Gibberillic acid for years even spraying the flowers without any bad results (except it is brown and stains white flowers)

Keiki paste adds them to a lanolin product to keep it in place getting better results.

I should have said I do not know the exact formula for keiki paste so they may add other items like vitamin B1 but all paste products are basically a growth hormone in lanolin and then fine tuned to the companies preferences.

Jerry, does Superthrive really contain giberilllic acid in addition to auxins?

Keiki paste contains cytokinin, which is completely different from auxins and gibberellins.

Thank you for clarifying that for us, Naoki.

No, SuperThrive does not contain cytokinins or gibberlellins. The only hormone in it is the synthetic auxin, naphthalene acetic acid (NAA). Similarly, Dyna-Gro K-L-N contains both it and another synthetic auxin, indole-3 butyric acid (IBA).

The application of either of them will not give the same response as that of a keiki paste.

I will also take this opportunity to remind everyone that all of these chemicals have very finite lifetimes, which is significantly affected by storage conditions, so many times, when folks do not have success using them, it is due to the "fizz being out of the cola", as it were, rendering it ineffective.
